Chloé Bernard is a multi-talented French artist who seamlessly blends her passions for art, skateboarding, and self-expression. Through her vibrant murals and cosmic, surrealistic paintings, Chloé invites viewers into her whimsical world, where colors and fantastical elements come alive. Her art is deeply influenced by subcultures, comic books, and the boundless possibilities of other dimensions and life forms. Simultaneously, she has carved her own path as an artist, using her skills to create bold, monochromatic designs that reveal multi-layers of our psyche and relationship with space. Chloé's journey has been one of perseverance, self-discovery, and a relentless pursuit of her creative passions. Whether on her skateboard, on a canvas, or tattooing Chloé embodies the depth of an artist who refuses to be confined by boundaries or societal expectations.

Hi, Chloé nice to meet you - we have been following your artwork for some time! Tell us a little about yourself.

I was born in Nice. I moved to Marseille 15 years ago. I attended the National Academy of Art of Marseille for 4 years, and after my studies, I focused on doing what I like most, which is, to skate and make art!

You have a very unique style - very dimensional what is your inspiration?

My big influence as a kid was cartoons, video games, movies, comic books, etc.. through my creative process, I can connect to that inner fantastic world. The imagination has no boundaries. I want to live in a sci-fi movie that’s all.

Some artists that I look up to are:

I like the 90’s aesthetic, Memphis design, and retro sci-fi.

Tell us about your creative process and what supports it.

When I paint I try to use colors I like to see together. I fade them together or put them in opposition. Fading different shapes, I wonder if it’s like making music.

Different layers make one together. It can be noisy or quiet.

When I paint I listen to music a lot. I like to be alone and go deep into my thoughts. I try to find a very peaceful place. And as the colors are appearing I feel good.

How did you get into skating and making murals/ designing for skateparks? What has the response been?

I started to skate when I was 13 years old. I began painting murals way later during my art studies. I arrived little by little. I always liked it but maybe I was too scared to try. And slowly, with the help of friends, I started to paint. And I painted skateparks because I spent so much time there. So it was very natural to paint them.

I did some skateparks, however not many since it t takes a lot of time and materials to paint a full skatepark. I have done maybe less than 10. In Marseille that is a lot! Sometimes it was only on the walls. My installations are mostly in France!

The response is positive. It’s important to me that the skaters like it. On IG though I sometimes got hate from haters hahaha it makes me laugh a lot!

What are some of the challenges you have faced as an artist?

I’m lucky that I almost always felt supported by my family, friends, and sponsors. Of course not all the time, in general, I have felt this from the people around me, and it makes a big difference. You need to believe what you are doing makes sense, if nobody understands or supports it, it’s hard to keep going.

Art is a very subjective thing. I sometimes feel that I should do something more useful for the world. Haha. I’m lucky that I get support from people that I love. I overcome anxiety because of them.

What is the skate scene like where you live?

In Marseille, the skate scene is big and friendly. I love them they have been my friends for a long time. All kinds of people, all ages, as Marseille. Multi-cultural town.

Any upcoming Projects/Art Shows?

I am working on board designs for Cruzade skateboards. And I am very excited about it.

I just did a collab with the Concrete Jungle Foundation to help them raise money to help others through skateboarding!
